UNS established a Fund to Support Local Media.

The fund is intended to provide financial support to editorial teams and journalists working in smaller communities who are facing financial difficulties that threaten their survival and operations.

Donations may be made to a specific media outlet or author (which should be specified at the time of payment), or to assist local media.

Funds donated for assistance without a specific designation will be distributed by UNS through projects or grants to those media outlets deemed to be the most financially vulnerable, provided they conduct their work professionally and in accordance with the Journalists' Code of Ethics in Serbia.

The fund for supporting local media was established as part of the project "Media Oases – Incubator for Local Media".

The goal of the project is for young journalists and journalism students to develop local media initiatives and contribute to the creation of quality content that is significant for their communities.

Media oases are a response to the emergence of so-called media deserts – areas where there are not enough professional media outlets reporting on local issues.

Through training and mentoring within the project, participants gain knowledge about innovations in media content creation, new media formats, digital production, and business models in journalism.

With your donation to the Fund for Local Media, you can support journalists and editorial teams who, despite working under challenging conditions, contribute to the development of local communities.

More information on how to make a donation and provide support is available on the “Donations” page.

When making a donation, please select the option “Fund for Local Media” in the “Purpose” menu.
