Major Jubilee: The 1000th Issue of Čačanske Novine Has Been Released
In an era when digital platforms and screens dominate, and printed media across the region are struggling against the onslaught of modern technologies, few manage to withstand the challenges and preserve the scent of freshly printed paper. One of the rare examples of durability, journalistic bravery, and uncompromising quality is "Čačanske novine," which, with the release of their milestone 1000th issue, has written another important chapter in Serbian local journalism.

Two Decades of Struggle, Truth, and Survival Against the Wind
In times when many media outlets are losing authenticity, Čačanske novine has remained a faithful oasis of free speech and critical thought. Under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Aleksandar Arsenijević, along with the indispensable authorial stamp and recognizable columns, this newspaper has taken a clear course since its revival in October 2004 - "open about everything."
The roots of this media outlet trace back to the pre-war period, specifically to 1937, when, under the leadership of Žika Vujičić and with the support of prominent intellectuals like Dr. Dragiša Mišović and Ratko Mitrović, the first opposition-oriented "Čačanske novine" were published. This rebellious and libertarian spirit has been successfully carried into modern times, transforming the editorial office into a symbol of resistance against all forms of censorship and pressure.
Speaking about the two-decade anniversary and the challenges of survival in the media landscape, Arsenijević emphasizes that working in a city that certain interest groups have tried to appropriate is akin to a feat:
"If you have the misfortune of working and surviving for ten years in a city that has gradually turned into the private fiefdom of one family, one interest group... then that is akin to a feat. Especially in a situation where you see things, people, and events as they are, rather than how local authorities present them."
Congratulations on the Major Anniversary
The release of the 1000th issue of Čačanske novine has attracted significant public attention and interest from colleagues in other editorial offices. Among numerous congratulatory messages, one stood out from the renowned journalist and media freedom advocate, as well as the President of the Board of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), Veran Matić:
"Dear Stojan Marković, congratulations on the 1000th issue of Čačanske novine. A rich and enduring journalistic and activist career, marked by numerous confrontations with power... We wish long-lasting careers for the female and male journalists, and to Stojan, we wish much health and peace."
Our team at the Epicentar press portal also joined in the congratulations, emphasizing that "Čačanske novine," despite its sharp pen that bothers many, has managed to leave an indelible mark in history and prove that the public interest must always come first.
As part of the media group that includes Radio Ozon FM, the Ozon Press portal, and Čačanske novine, this collective continues to fight for Čačak to become a city that meets the needs of all its citizens, rather than a party stronghold. With 1000 printed editions behind them, decades of critical writing, and an invaluable contribution to the local community, Čačanske novine continues to thrive - to the delight of those who still choose quality, truthful, and unbiased news with their first morning coffee.
