At the support gathering, in addition to citizens, numerous colleagues from other newsrooms, bikers, and public figures were present. The attendees applauded the N1 journalists, and a banner was displayed reading "N1 is not alone."

Employees at N1 had a meeting yesterday with the new Executive Director of the News Program, Brent Sadler, but the atmosphere in the newsroom remains unchanged, as employees are still concerned, reported an N1 correspondent.

The gathering was called by journalistic associations after N1 employees held a protest on Monday, worried about the dismissal of Božić and whether it could signify a change in editorial policy.

The new management informed Božić on Friday that he was dismissed from the position of director of the company, and then he was informed that he was unassigned and that, until the decision of the Adria News Network board regarding his status, he would not be leading the newsroom.

Božić's current status is that he is employed but unassigned and no longer leads the N1 newsroom, while the new board is assessing his position, which will be defined in the coming days.

Veran Matić from ANEM stated that N1 operates in the public interest and added that today's gathering is seen as support from the public in Serbia.

"You are fighting. You are fighting for the public interest and professionalism through your practice. Citizens of Serbia need to be concerned and take care of themselves; they will be left without a media outlet that is reliable for their information. When you are without reliable media, you are easily exposed to manipulation, and that is a significant problem in Serbia," Matić said for N1.

He added that N1 is one of the media outlets that is very professional and that "we must all work together to preserve it."

"It is obvious that if you, as employees, are concerned, then we, as viewers, should be even more worried," Matić noted.
