He emphasized for Nova S television that we are in a situation where threats against journalists are almost a daily occurrence.

"What is alarming is the sudden rise in attacks on journalists and the reduction in accountability. The police simply do not protect journalists; they are not doing their job, and in fact, they even attack journalists. I was under police protection for six years and I did not feel safe at all. So, having police protection means nothing if you are surrounded by such a society and there are people here in front of the parliament who will threaten your safety," stated Matić.

As he added, we must protect journalists so that they do not become victims.

"We have three murdered journalists, their murders remain unresolved, and now this atmosphere reminds me of situations where journalists have lost their lives. We as a society cannot allow this," assessed Veran Matić for Nova S.
