Artificial Intelligence in the Media in Serbia 2025: A Helpful Assistant, Not a Replacement for Journalists
Editors and journalists of domestic media are aware of the enormous impact that artificial intelligence has on journalism, but at the same time, they believe that it cannot replace journalists, but can only serve as a useful assistant. The vast majority have already used artificial intelligence tools, primarily for performing routine journalistic tasks, significantly less often for producing media content, and the least for distributing content to the audience. They recognize unreliability as the biggest problem in using this technology, typically do not have internal guidelines for its use, and due to transparency, they predominantly support the idea of labeling content that has been created with the help of artificial intelligence.

ALIA: TV N1 did not exploit the child who made a statement at the protest.
Due to the statement of a nine-year-old boy from the protest in Novi Sad, broadcasted on TV N1, a campaign was launched by all pro-regime media, while politicians in power took turns condemning the situation, similar to the reactions following the child's statement about students in the program "Important Issues" on RTS. The lawsuit against N1 has also reached regulators in Luxembourg, but ALIA concluded that N1's reporting did not violate the child's dignity, stating that "nothing in the content humiliates the child," and that he was "allowed to express himself with the consent of his parents."

BCBP: Urgently cease the intimidation of journalists and the criminalization of journalistic work.
The Integrity Network calls on the relevant institutions in Serbia to immediately cease practices that represent unacceptable pressure on journalists and threaten media freedom, following the summons of Uglješa Bokić, a journalist for the Danas newspaper, to a police interrogation with a demand to disclose his source of information and a threat of forced appearance if he does not comply. The reason for this is Bokić's article published on the Danas portal in April 2025 concerning the police's actions in a specific criminal case of public interest.
