ANEM ALARM: The unacceptable chilling threat against the plaintiff Bojana Savović must be prosecuted immediately.

The peak of this joint criminal venture by the authorities and tabloids occurred yesterday when Bojana Savović received a threatening letter delivered to her workplace by a prosecution courier, which arrived via official mail.

The letter, which was handwritten, contains the message: “Bojana, you loser, watch out for the next 40 days, Serbian Patriots, January 2026.”

This threat responds to numerous threats that not only journalists but also educators and activists have been receiving. Threats have been regularly reported, and although some of the perpetrators can be easily identified, there have been no results from the Service for the Fight Against High-Tech Crime and other police and prosecutorial authorities.

This threat has also been reported to the relevant authorities today, and we expect it to be processed urgently, as the location from which it was sent can be easily identified, fingerprints can be taken, and handwriting analysis can lead to the perpetrator.

These alarming threats against prosecutors are a threat to the rule of law and to those who defend it, as they are the first barrier when it comes to endangering the safety of anyone, including journalists.

“The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) insists on a swift and effective investigation to identify and prosecute the individual who threatened Bojana Savović, who has been targeted even within the prosecution system, and now faces threats to her safety and that of her family. Threats often lead to physical attacks, and only effective sanctioning of the attackers can prevent this,” stated Veran Matić, President of the ANEM Board and member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists.

The project “System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists” is being implemented by ANEM in partnership with Insider TV and the Center for the Development of Local Media, with the support of the European Union.
