ANEM ALARM: Journalist Igor Velić from Bor has received multiple death threats on social media.
Journalist Igor Velić from Bor, a columnist and contributor to several media outlets, received multiple death threats on social media platforms Facebook and X, which were reported to the Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime by Veran Matić, President of the Board of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), a member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, and an operator on the Safe Line for Journalists 0800 100 115.

Velić received a message on January 17 from the account @CarDusanNajveci, which reads: “YOU NEED TO BE ELIMINATED WITH A 12.7 CALIBER, I BURN YOU, YOU ALBANIAN TALIBAN TERRORIST,” followed by a threat from the same account: “You are a Gestapo agent and you need to be eliminated just like all Nazis and Gestapo agents who were eliminated mercilessly underground, you terrorist Gestapo scum.”
This journalist from Bor also received a threat on Facebook, on the page “Borans Ask,” from the account of Mirko Djekanovic, stating: “You should first be f***ed and then killed...hehh.”
Igor Velić reported the threats to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) in Bor.
Let us recall that in July 2025, a journalist from Bor reported a threat of being slaughtered, which was forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime, but to date, there has been no feedback or response.
“Local elections have been announced in Bor, and, as in other cases, we are seeing an increase in violence and threats. It is very important to urgently identify and sanction the perpetrators to prevent escalation,” stated Veran Matić.
ANEM calls on all journalists and media representatives to regularly report any form of security threats while performing their work. A free phone number and direct line to ANEM, 0800 100 115, is available to all journalists, where media representatives can receive explanations about the legal treatment of the offense and the procedures that need to be initiated to report security threats to the competent institutions, police, and prosecutor's office.
