MIT forms working groups for amendments to media laws and a new media strategy.
The Ministry of Information and Telecommunications (MIT) has invited journalist and media associations, unions, institutions, and government bodies to propose members for working groups tasked with drafting the Bill on Amendments and Supplements to two media laws and the Strategy for the Development of the Public Information System in the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2026 to 2030.

As stated in the invitation letter, the goal of the working groups for the proposal of the Draft Amendments to the Law on Public Information and Media (ZJIM) and the Law on Electronic Media (ZEM) is to align media laws with the European Media Freedom Act, which came into force in August of this year.
The Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Boris Bratina, evaluated the establishment of these working groups as a step towards further enhancing the media framework and aligning it with the legislation and standards of the European Union.
“In relation to the obligations of the Republic of Serbia, both those stipulated in the Reform Agenda and those assumed in the process of accession to the European Union, the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, as the authority responsible for public information and media affairs, is obligated to implement the transposition of European legislation,” the invitation states.
Letters have been sent to the Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS), the Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS), the Professional Journalists' Association of Serbia (PROUNS), the Journalists' Society of Vojvodina (DNV), and the Association of Journalists of Serbia (ANS).
The Electronic Media Association of Serbia COMNET and the RAB Serbia Association have been invited to propose candidates, and the invitation has also been extended to the Journalists' Union of Serbia (SINOS).
This invitation letter has also been sent to the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media.
Invitations have reached the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry for European Integration, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, as well as the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government.
Candidates can also be proposed by the Office for Information Technologies and Electronic Governance, as well as the Republic Secretariat for Legislation.
