Attack on the N1 Team: Discovery and Arrest of the Attacker After Two and a Half Months as a Damage Control Game?
After he was identified by journalists, the police had been searching for him until a few days ago. The attacker on the N1 team, Vladan Sretenović, is now in custody due to the risk of reoffending and potential flight. Now that the first step has been taken, what could be the outcome of this case?

After the attack on N1 reporter Maja Nikolić and cameraman Ivan Pavlović, it took the police more than an hour to respond to the scene.
"From the very beginning, there has been obstruction in this case. I would like to remind you that the police officers who were on site did not want to take action," says Tamara Filipović from NUNS.
It took the Prosecutor's Office two and a half months to locate Vladan Sretenović, the attacker on the N1 team. He has been placed in custody.
"I believe that this alleged discovery and arrest is simply some sort of game... I think he was in custody and available to law enforcement the moment he left here, and that this is now a certain type of damage control in public," says Veran Matić from ANEM.
Sretenović was known to the public even before this incident, when he was identified by Radio Free Europe journalists. He spent 15 years in prison for murder and was sentenced to a year and a half in prison for assault at the end of 2022.
"I think that in this case, journalists have done all the work of the institutions. This cannot be attributed as a success of the police or the prosecutor's office," states Veran Matić.
The Prosecutor's Office charges him with the criminal offense officially known as - preventing the printing and distribution of printed materials and broadcasting programs.
"We have all the evidence; the man did something unacceptable. He broke the camera and intimidated journalists. The offense is there," emphasizes Tamara Filipović.
And now, the perpetrator of the offense needs to be prosecuted.
"If that happens, if he is indeed prosecuted and convicted - he will be granted amnesty. As we see, the president likes to grant amnesty to those who are loyal to him during this period. He behaved loyally in this loyalist city that is under prohibition," says Veran Matić.
Last year, there were 134 open cases of attacks on journalists pending in the prosecutor's offices. Only three resulted in a court verdict.
