ANEM organized a training for the safety of journalists at Nova.rs.

Considering the events in the country over the past few months and the increasing number of pressures and attacks on journalists and media, experienced lecturer and journalist Branko Čečen shared security experiences with employees at this media outlet. The training covered several thematic areas, including journalists' mental health, digital, social, and legal security, as well as physical security concerning reporting from protests.

In discussions with journalists, editors, and management regarding physical security, topics included what can be done, risk analysis, communication protocols, and emergency situations, whether events can be anticipated, and how newsrooms can better organize themselves.

The goal of the training is to raise awareness of security within newsrooms that report from the field and to establish protocols for the protection of journalists and media workers.

So far, similar training sessions have been held at Radio-Television Vojvodina (RTV), Beta Agency, the newspaper Danas, and Wireless Media Group, and ANEM will conduct these sessions in other newsrooms facing increased security risks in the near future.

The training was organized as part of the project "System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists," implemented by ANEM in partnership with Insajder TV and the Center for the Development of Local Media, with the support of the European Union.
