Media Landscape of Serbia: Analysis of National Television Content
Despite frequent changes to the regulatory framework and the declarative increase in programming obligations for broadcasters over the past decade, the quality and diversity of television content in Serbia have not improved, which is one of the key conclusions of the analysis “The Media Landscape of Serbia: Analysis of National Television Content” published by the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation.

Veran Matić: There is no strong pressure from Europe on the authorities in Serbia to stop hate speech and targeting.
The President of the Board of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) and member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, Veran Matić, appeared on the program "Wake Up" on Nova S television, where he discussed with journalist Nevena Madžarević the attacks on journalists, local media, project co-financing of media content, and the overall media situation.

In the program "Important Matters", there was no misuse of minors for political purposes, and the nature of that program content and its participation was adapted to the age, maturity, and reason for participation, in accordance with the Law on Electronic Media, concluded the opinion of the Monitoring and Program Analysis Service of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) following a report from the President of the RTS Management Board.

NUNS: Female Journalists in Serbia Increasingly Exposed to Violence and Discrimination – Institutions Must Provide Effective Protection
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) expresses deep concern over the pressures, threats, and attacks on female journalists in Serbia, which have been increasing year by year. NUNS calls on the relevant institutions to urgently ensure adequate punishment for the attackers, and on media organizations to improve the position of female journalists and combat discrimination.

Data on the media market in Serbia is insufficiently transparent, and there is a lack of better self-regulation.
Serbia still has an overall media market valued at 274 million euros, which is insufficiently large for the application of more advanced audience tracking methods and their consumption habits.

A solidarity gathering was held for attacked journalists in front of the Assembly of Serbia.
A large number of media workers and citizens gathered tonight near the National Assembly of Serbia to express solidarity with the team from N1 television, which was attacked at that location on November 20, as well as with all other female and male journalists who have been targeted in attacks.

Veran Matić: These are the two worst years in the last 25 years; everyone has failed in the case of the attack on the N1 team.
Veran Matić from the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) assessed that, when it comes to the safety of journalists and media in Serbia, the last two years have been "the worst two years in the last 25 years."

Out of 2,182 media outlets in Serbia, 1,180 are online portals, while the number of print media is almost half that.
In Serbia, a total of 2,182 media outlets were registered in 2024, of which 1,180 were identified as online media. Compared to 2018, the number of television stations increased from 211 to 217, news agencies rose from 23 to 31, while the number of radio stations decreased from 309 to 268, and print media dropped from 863 to just 468, as highlighted during the presentation of the Media Association's study "The Right Measure of Media 2025."
