The SafeJournalists network strongly condemns the threats directed at journalist Vuk Cvijić and the editorial team of the weekly magazine Radar through comments on this media's website.

Statement from the organization Eko Straža regarding the announcement and publication "ANEM ALARM: Threats to the media that their social media will be shut down if they write negatively about the president":

By a final judgment of the Appellate Court in Belgrade, the citizens' association Građanska akcija Pančevo, as the founder of the media outlet "Pančevo Si Ti", is obligated to pay the plaintiff, media worker from Vršac Aleksandar Čupić, the amount of 213,800 dinars within 15 days (which expires on January 28) as compensation for emotional distress due to the violation of the right to privacy (70,000 RSD) and for the costs of the first-instance (104,400 RSD) and appellate proceedings (39,400 RSD).

For more than 30 years, journalist, program director of the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (NDNV), and professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, Dr. Dinko Gruhonjić, has been subjected to numerous threats, pressures, and attacks. Many lies have been published about him, and he states that they are all equally terrible.

After I was physically attacked during one of the numerous civil protests held in Subotica last year, I continue to reflect on what it means to be a journalist in a country where the boundaries of the feeling of safety are constantly shifting, but – how far does it go? And should I have to endure anything at all while simply doing my job?

Jelenko Pijevac, suspected of threatening Insider journalist Nataša Mijušković on November 2, has been placed under house arrest, as stated by the First Basic Prosecutor's Office to Insider. Initially, the court ordered his detention; however, following an accepted appeal, the decision was changed to house arrest under electronic surveillance, which includes the obligation to wear an ankle monitor.

Attorney Vladimir Todorić has filed a criminal complaint against the judges of the Appellate Court who overturned the conviction in the case of the murder of Slavko Ćuruvija and acquitted the defendants. He states that the judges altered the testimonies of the witnesses and that there is no immunity for this criminal act.

In the new year 2026, Telekom Srbija stepped into the year richer by yet another company, and with it, several media outlets - on the last day of 2025, the state telecom operator finally acquired Mondo INC, owned by WMG Media Igor Žeželj. This company is the publisher of the daily newspaper Kurir, as well as the Kurir portal and the television station of the same name.
