ANEM Alarm: Authorities urgently need to investigate the warnings received by the editor of Jugpress.
The chief and responsible editor of the Regional Information Agency JUGpress, Ljiljana Stojanović, who is also a member of the Permanent Working Group on Journalist Safety, received a friendly message/warning from a few individuals in security structures that they are "setting a trap" for her and that she should "be cautious."

She announced that this is all due to her journalistic work and what she publishes. She states that because of this warning, and everything that is happening these days, she is concerned for her safety, the safety of the people from Jugpress, and her family.
Ljiljana Stojanović also reminded that Jugpress, she personally, and journalists have been targets of various attacks, pressures, and threats for many years precisely because of their professional work, which is solely in the interest of the public and citizens.
Veran Matić, a member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, requested from the contact point in this group at the Ministry of Interior that the police in Vranje conduct necessary interviews and investigative actions regarding the threats received by Ljiljana Stojanović and the editorial team of Jugpress.
The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) appeals to the relevant authorities to investigate the warning messages to Ljiljana Stojanović and to provide protection for the editorial team of Jugpress in accordance with security assessments.
We remind you that since the beginning of 2025, the safety of journalists and media is at a worrying level, with increasingly frequent physical attacks, threats, and pressures on journalists who perform their work professionally and in accordance with the public interest. Particularly alarming is the lack of police response in such cases in public places.
This trend is a consequence of public speech, which often comes from representatives of the authorities, in which certain journalists and media are targeted and accused of terrorism and being foreign mercenaries.
ANEM calls on all politicians and representatives of the authorities to urgently cease such rhetoric and attacks on media representatives, and instead to protect media workers whose reporting is crucial during periods of social crisis.
