ANEM ALARM: New Threats to Journalists and the Editorial Team of the Weekly Radar

A reader with the nickname "typhoon" left a message under Milan Ćulibrk's article "For bursts, six times more money than for all capital investments," which reads: "I’m f***ing your Ustaša mother, Culibrk, and you Ustaša scum ---- we will exterminate you so that such scum never again emerges; rest assured it won’t take long for that to happen."

ANEM demands that the competent authorities urgently respond to this threat and protect the editorial staff of Radar and the employed journalists who have been increasingly exposed to death threats in recent months.

We remind you that Radar journalist Vuk Cvijić is among the most endangered colleagues, having been physically attacked multiple times, including by the police, and is completely unprotected, as is the editorial staff.

The Radar editorial office is located in close proximity to Pionirski Park, where unknown individuals from a criminal background continue to linger, having attacked journalists dozens of times and receiving support from the authorities.

"Despite the increasing number of reported threats faced by this editorial office, not a single case has been resolved. The impunity for threats and attacks on journalists only encourages their escalation and brutalization. Representatives of journalist associations and media organizations, members of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, are very concerned about the daily drastic endangerment of our colleagues' lives," stated Veran Matić.

ANEM calls on all journalists and media representatives to regularly report any type of security threat encountered while performing their work via the Safe Line 0800 100 115.
