Members of the Board of ANEM: The film broadcast on Informer, B92, and Prva television seriously jeopardizes the safety of Veran Matić.

Televisions with national frequencies B92 and Prva, along with the cable television Informer, aired a documentary film about Veran Matić during prime evening slots, which could have serious consequences and jeopardize the safety of Veran Matić, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM).

Members of the Board of ANEM: The film broadcast on Informer, B92, and Prva television seriously jeopardizes the safety of Veran Matić.

In the film, the president of the ANEM Management Board is dangerously targeted through the distortion of facts, placing him in a narrative and context that portrays Matić as a traitor to Serbia, a foreign mercenary, and an agent, along with accusations that he has embezzled vast sums of money, thereby indirectly inciting a lynching of Veran Matić.

This film, titled "Evil Era," was produced by the Center for Social Stability, which is already known for similar works that label the media, organizations, and individuals who critically speak out in public about government activities and problems in the state and society in the most horrific terms.

Members of the ANEM Management Board strongly condemn this media lynching of Veran Matić, who has dedicated his life and career to strengthening free media and ensuring the safety of journalists in Serbia, especially during the past year when he represented one of the greatest supports for media workers who have faced a record number of attacks, threats, and obstructions in their work.

Members of the ANEM Management Board call on the highest state officials, international organizations, and journalistic associations to publicly condemn such frightening films that are broadcast on national television and reach a large number of citizens in Serbia.

Unfortunately, we remind you that there has been no Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) in Serbia for over a year, which should respond to such programs on television. Consequently, it has been "permitted" for such inappropriate programming to be aired, which can potentially endanger lives.

We also call on other relevant institutions to start doing their jobs to put an end to this flagrant violation of all media and civilizational standards in a society striving to be democratic.

Members of the Management Board of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM):

Milorad Tadić, Boom93, Požarevac

Slobodan Krajnović, Radio 021, Novi Sad
