Who protects children from harmful content: Organizations have sent a letter to the Ministry regarding the Pink Kids channel.

"This incident, which occurred on October 27th, not only represents a drastic violation of media standards but also exposes a larger systemic problem: the current non-existence of a functional REM Council. In a situation where the body responsible for regulating electronic media is not constituted, the question arises as to who effectively protects children from harmful content," states the organizations' announcement.

For this reason, they add, they have reached out to the Ministry, urging it to act ex officio and bridge this dangerous regulatory vacuum.

"We demand that the Ministry: Take urgent measures to establish the circumstances under which the disputed content was broadcast. Initiate the determination of responsibility of the editorial staff of the PINK Kids channel. Inform the public about the steps that will prevent the recurrence of such oversights. Functional and independent regulatory bodies are the first line of defense for children's rights in media. Their absence must not be an excuse for failing to protect children's rights in media," they emphasize.
