UNS database: In 2025, there were 150 cases of threats against journalists recorded, an increase compared to last year.
The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) recorded 261 cases of threats against journalists in 2025, which is 150 cases more than last year, when a total of 111 cases were reported.

The data is alarming that this year there have been 60 physical attacks, which is nearly five times more than last year, when the UNS recorded 13 attacks. This means that there were almost four times more physical attacks compared to the year before last, when 16 were recorded, as well as five times more than in 2022, when 12 were documented.
In every category of threats to journalists, a significant increase has been established. The number of threats is two and a half times higher, with 54 threats recorded, which is 21 more than last year. As in previous years, online threats were predominant.
The number of pressures and insults has nearly doubled, with a total of 50 such cases documented this year, which is 21 more than last year when 29 cases were entered into the database.
This year, a total of 48 instances of obstruction of work and discrimination against media were recorded (38 instances of work obstruction and 10 situations in which media were discriminated against), while last year 26 such cases were documented.
While last year one attack on property was recorded, this year five such cases have been documented. One more hacking attack was identified compared to last year, when there were two.
As many as 26 journalists who opposed changes to editorial policies or shared footage of protests on their social media profiles were either dismissed or had their cooperation terminated, according to the UNS database for 2025. The database also recorded two cases of censorship.
This year, seven cases of detention were recorded, as well as one attempted eavesdropping.
Five cases of doxing, or the public sharing of personal information, have been documented, while there were no such cases in the database last year.
