Civilian: List of candidates for the REM Council who do not meet the requirements.
The director of Citizens' Initiatives, Maja Stojanović, stated today that the new process for selecting members of the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) is more problematic than the previous one, adding that some of the proposed candidates have no work experience in electronic media and have very questionable biographies.

Accelerating the path to the EU or a new blow to media freedoms: What do the amendments to the three media laws bring?
The situation is somewhat paradoxical - the adoption of amendments to three media laws, which are arriving in parliament, is expected to fulfill an important condition for opening Cluster 3 in Serbia's negotiations with the European Union. However, this could simultaneously limit freedom of expression, which is one of the important foundations of the Union. Media experts are warning about this, presenting a number of shortcomings outlined in the new legislative proposals.

Ana Martinoli: We are far from having the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) as stipulated by the law.
The elections for the REM Council are reminiscent of the previous competition, which ended with seven independent candidates withdrawing due to very serious shortcomings in the entire process, says FDU professor Ana Martinoli. She adds that we are still very far from having a REM in practice as envisioned by the law.

UNS: Members of the Committee for Culture and Information should decide on the candidates for the REM Council fairly and impartially.

SĆF: The candidate for the REM Council presented falsehoods while defending Pink and Hepi.
The Parliamentary Committee should reject the candidacies of Žarko Simović and Stevica Smederevac for the REM Council, as they have been working in REM for years and are complicit in its illegal activities, concluded the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation.

The network of professors, associates, researchers, and other employees at the University of Novi Sad and other higher education institutions in Vojvodina, "Slobodan University," has announced its strong opposition to the manner in which their university has been involved in the process of proposing members of the REM Council, as well as to the candidates that have emerged from that process.

Snježana Milivojević on REM: The greatest conflict is centered around the media; the authorities will not easily relinquish control.
"Very little can surprise us anymore in this long process of selecting the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), which has been ongoing for a significantly longer time than it currently appears. What is unusual is that beneath a major student victory and the pressure they exerted for the competition to be repeated, there seems to be agreement among the authorities, the public, and the EU to conclude this process by the end of summer. However, beneath this apparent consensus, everything is actually boiling over; I believe there is no real consensus, as all participants have different ideas on how to bring this process to a close, and I have no optimism about how it will turn out," said Professor Snježana Milivojević from the Faculty of Political Sciences for N1.

IJAS: Ana Brnabić should stop misleading the public.
The Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) strongly condemns yesterday's public appearance of the President of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, in which she presented a series of falsehoods and manipulative interpretations of the provisions of the Law on Electronic Media (ZEM) concerning the selection of members of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM).
