The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), the Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS), the Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS), and Local Press point out that the evaluation of media projects and the allocation of funds within the project co-financing process continued in June, accompanied by numerous controversial decisions, irregularities, and a lack of transparency in the process.

The editorial team of FAR, a bilingual internet portal from Dimitrovgrad that publishes information in Bulgarian and Serbian, is primarily funded through foreign donations, as our projects do not succeed in local and national competitions due to our critical reporting, said Danijela Apostolov Videnov, a journalist for the portal.

The meeting of this year's and future candidates for members of the committees for project evaluation within the media content project co-financing process was held today, organized by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) in collaboration with the Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS), the Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS), and Lokal Press.

The municipality of Golubac allocated the least amount of money for projects in this year's competitions, only 100,000 dinars. The minimum amount that can be awarded per project is 20,000 dinars, while the maximum is 50,000 dinars.

The gminfo portal has rejected the funds allocated this year through the competition for co-financing projects for the production of media content in the field of public information for the year 2025, which was announced by the municipality of Gornji Milanovac.

The media of the two local media moguls are known for reporting in Serbian, but that was no obstacle. The Ministry of Information left only crumbs for the true minority media.

If, in the next year, the residents of Kragujevac are informed about local events according to the way funds from the city budget designated for public information are distributed, they will mostly receive biased news about the Serbian Progressive Party and its satellites.

The Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) calls on the President of the Municipality of Despotovac, Zlatko Marjanović, to withdraw the Decision to suspend the Competition for co-financing media content production projects, as it is not in accordance with the Law on Public Information and Media and the Regulation on Co-Financing Projects for Achieving Public Interest in the Field of Public Information.
