ANEM organized a training on journalist safety for several editorial offices in Belgrade.
A two-day training for journalist safety for Belgrade newsrooms was held by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM).

The training was attended by representatives from Foneta, Mašine, Zoomer, Naš portal, Cenzolovka, Nova ekonomija, Istinomer, and freelancers.
Considering the events in the country over the past few months and the increasing number of pressures and attacks on journalists and media, experienced lecturer and journalist Branko Čečen shared his experiences in the field of security with the attendees. The training covered several thematic areas, including journalists' mental health, digital, social, and legal security, as well as physical security regarding reporting from protests.
Regarding physical security, discussions focused on what can be done, risk analysis, communication protocols, and emergency situations, whether events can be anticipated, and how editorial teams can better organize themselves.

In the final part of the training, Veran Matić, president of the ANEM Management Board, member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, and operator of the Safe Line for Journalists at 0800 100 115, spoke with the participants and offered several pieces of advice regarding reporting from risky and mass events. He invited all colleagues to reach out to ANEM if they need any support in their daily work.
The aim of this training was to raise awareness about safety within the editorial teams reporting from the field and to establish protocols for the protection of journalists and media workers.
So far, similar trainings have been held at Radio-Television Vojvodina (RTV), the Beta agency, the newspaper Danas, Nova.rs, Wireless Media Group, and for media in Novi Pazar, and ANEM will conduct further trainings in other editorial offices facing increased security risks in the coming period.
The training was organized as part of the project “Improvement of the system for prevention and response mechanisms in cases of threats to the safety and life of female and male journalists in Serbia,” implemented by ANEM in partnership with Insajder TV and the Center for the Development of Local Media, with the support of the European Union.
