Representatives of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists and the OSCE Mission in Serbia visited the editorial office of the weekly magazine Radar.
The threat received by Vuk Cvijić, a journalist from the weekly magazine Radar, has alarmed the public and the media community in Serbia, as well as international journalist and media associations and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

This threat came just a week after the alarming threats against cartoonist Dušan Petričić, a member of a editorial team that has been subjected to threats and disturbing messages for an extended period.
Today, the editorial team of Radar was visited by Dominik Thierry, Head of the Media Department of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, and Miroslav Janković, Legal Advisor to the OSCE on media freedom. Veran Matić, a member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists and President of the Management Board of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), also attended the meeting.
Vesna Mališić, the Editor-in-Chief of Radar, briefed the guests on the constant threats and attacks, none of which have been prosecuted or sanctioned. She emphasized that despite this, they consistently report all cases to the relevant institutions and inform the public about them.
Since the institutions do not react, the only option left is to protect the public and show solidarity among colleagues in journalism, says the Editor-in-Chief.
Vuk Cvijić spoke about the threat he received yesterday, which was explicit and related to the article he published in today's issue, and which he reported through testimony to the police and the prosecutor's office.
He also discussed the physical attacks he has experienced in the past year and a half, which have gone unpunished. He was skeptical about the prospects for any progress in resolving these cases, as they involve members of special intervention units, as well as owners of tabloids close to the highest echelons of power in Serbia.
There was also a discussion about the work of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, the importance of the established system of contact points for reporting cases, and the exchange of information between journalist associations and media associations with prosecutors and police.
Despite the high percentage of unpunished cases, the importance of reporting every case of jeopardizing journalists' safety was emphasized, as the state is obliged to ensure protection and safe working conditions for journalists.
Jan Bratu, the OSCE representative for media freedom, stated on social media that he condemned the threat received by Vuk Cvijić and emphasized that all reported cases of threats and attacks on journalists must be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. He concluded that "impunity only encourages further threats and attacks."
