Applications are open: Training for the safety of female journalists and media workers on February 28 in Kragujevac.
The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) is conducting a series of activities in 2025 and 2026 aimed at improving the safety of media workers in Serbia as part of the project "System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists," which is supported by the European Union, the Kingdom of Norway, and the Balkan Fund for Democracy, as well as the Ministry of Information.

As part of the project, a significant activity is a specialized training for the safety of female media workers in newsrooms and on the field. Members of the group Journalists Against Violence Against Women, Jovana Gligorijević and Ana Manojlović, will hold a specialized training for female journalists and media workers in Kragujevac on Saturday, February 28, from 10 AM to 4 PM at Media Hub (Save Kovačevića 24b).
Jovana Gligorijević emphasizes that the safety of female journalists is not only about protection from attacks, threats, and other risks to their physical or online safety.
“The safety of female journalists also encompasses the well-being of all of us in our workplaces through experiences that are authentically ours, female, in the media profession. Therefore, I invite my colleagues from Kragujevac and the surrounding area to join the ANEM workshop on the safety of female journalists from a different perspective on November 28, where we create a safe, female space for journalists, where we share our experiences that remain within our, female circle. We open up issues, but we also look at how to resolve them, how to build alliances, and how to support each other,” said Gligorijević while announcing this training.
Ana Manojlović adds that when female journalists gather, they do not only talk about work but also about everything that comes with that work—from pressures to ways to preserve themselves.
“That is why we created a workshop on the safety of female journalists, but first and foremost, a space for sharing experiences, stories, and support. This is not just another workshop where you passively sit and listen to lectures,” says Manojlović.
The training on February 28 will be the fourth of ten that will be held until the end of 2026, organized by ANEM as part of the project “System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists,” which is supported by various donors, including the European Union.
Female journalists, editors, photographers, camerawomen, and freelancers working in Kragujevac and media outlets from the surrounding area can register by email at anem@anem.org.rs until Friday, February 27, 2026. Travel costs will be covered for colleagues who do not live in Kragujevac.
