A training session on journalist safety was held at the Beta agency.
The first part of the training for journalist safety in the newsroom of the Beta news agency was held today, organized by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM).

Considering the events in the country over the past few months and the increasing number of pressures and attacks on journalists and media, experienced lecturer and journalist Branko Čečen exchanged experiences in the field of security with employees of this agency.
The training covered several thematic areas, including the mental health of journalists, digital, social, and legal safety, as well as physical safety regarding reporting from high-risk public events, where participants particularly focused on current risks and experiences.
In discussions with journalists, editors, and management regarding physical safety, topics included what can be done, risk analysis, communication protocols, and emergency situations, whether events can be anticipated, and how newsrooms can better organize themselves.

The aim of the training is to raise awareness of safety within newsrooms that report from the field and establish protocols for the protection of journalists and media workers.
ANEM will conduct the same training in other newsrooms facing increased security risks in the upcoming period.
The training was organized as part of the project "System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists," implemented by ANEM in partnership with Insider TV and the Center for the Development of Local Media, with support from the European Union and the Balkan Found for Democracy.
