A three-day training for journalist safety was held at Danas.
Organized by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), a three-day training on journalist safety in the newsroom of the Danas newspaper and portal has concluded today.
Considering the events in the country over the past few months and the increased number of pressures and attacks on journalists and media, experienced trainer and journalist Branko Čečen shared security experiences with employees of this media outlet.
The training covered several thematic areas, including journalists' mental health, digital, social, and legal security, as well as physical security concerning reporting from high-risk public events, where participants particularly focused on current risks and experiences.
In discussions with journalists, editors, and management regarding physical security, the conversation addressed what can be done, risk analysis, communication protocols, emergency situations, the predictability of events, and how newsrooms can better organize themselves.
The goal of the training is to raise awareness of security within newsrooms that report from the field and to establish protocols for the protection of journalists and media workers.
In the coming period, ANEM will conduct the same training in other newsrooms facing increased security risks.
The training was organized as part of the project "System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists," implemented by ANEM in partnership with Insajder TV and the Local Media Development Center, with support from the European Union and the Balkan Democracy Fund.
