The newly appointed General Director of Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS), Manja Grčić, is no longer the director of the companies Minacord Media, Tačno, and Majo Public, according to data from the Business Registers Agency (APR).

Another local media outlet, Snaga juga, has been registered with the Business Registers Agency, with Gradimir Banković serving as the editor-in-chief and collaborating with the Center for Social Stability, while Zaple Media Group is the publisher. Since the beginning of the year, this marks the 11th local portal established by the same company and with the same editor-in-chief and responsible editor. Additionally, the official media register has been enriched by the weekly publication and its namesake portal, Srpski kompas, which is owned by the company Novosti.

From August 1, 2025, to January 31 of this year, the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation recorded at least 834 verbal attacks by high-ranking state officials on critically oriented journalists and media in Serbia. This involved at least 64 officials who insulted, discredited, and accused journalists and media outlets without evidence on a daily basis. The most frequent attacker is Nebojša Bakarec, who verbally assaulted the media and journalists at least 214 times, accounting for a quarter of the total number. Following him are SNS member Vladimir Đukanović, President Aleksandar Vučić, SNS member Milenko Jovanov, Speaker Ana Brnabić, and SNS President Miloš Vučević. The primary targets are often "Šolak's media," particularly N1 and Nova S.

Adria News Network (ANN) announced that it officially begins operations today within Adria News S.à r.l, "bringing together 14 leading television, print, and digital news brands within a special corporate governance framework designed to further protect editorial independence," which includes N1.

Discrediting campaigns in domestic media are characterized by identical or nearly identical texts that appear on multiple portals within a short period of time, typically targeting individuals who criticize the government. Such content has become almost a daily occurrence, especially since the beginning of the protests and following the collapse of the canopy at the train station in Novi Sad, which resulted in the death of 16 people. This content is filled with misinformation and manipulative claims, and such campaigns are particularly dangerous in smaller communities, where targeting can directly threaten the safety of individuals against whom the campaign is directed. This pattern has been recognized by the Appeals Commission of the Press Council when deciding on complaints regarding tabloid articles, which is why a new provision has been introduced in the Code of Journalists of Serbia that prohibits this type of "journalism."

The European Commission is concerned about the ongoing campaign to discredit journalist Veran Matić, as well as other journalists in Serbia, a spokesperson for the Commission stated to Radio Free Europe (RFE).

The Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information, and Relations with Religious Communities has announced today the competitions for co-financing media projects in the field of public information for the year 2026.

The Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) platform has published its Annual Monitoring Report for 2025, which states that last year it recorded 1,481 violations of media freedoms, including 208 in Serbia.
