The Ministry of Information and Telecommunications initiated 27 misdemeanor proceedings against public authorities in 2025 for non-compliance with the Law on Public Information and Media, specifically regarding the rules related to competitions for project co-financing of media content.

According to the response from the Ministry to the questions of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), 12 proceedings have been initiated against officials of public authorities for not announcing media competitions by March 1, 2025, for that calendar year.
It is also noted that 15 misdemeanor proceedings have been initiated against public authorities for failing to publish the decision on the distribution of funds or for not doing so within the legally prescribed timeframe, specifically no later than 90 days after the conclusion of the competition.
The Ministry's response does not specify against which authorities the misdemeanor proceedings have been initiated, except that among them are officials from the municipalities of Vrbas, Preševo, Bujanovac, and Gadžin Han, which have not yet distributed the allocated funds according to the competition, and against Surdulica, which has not even announced a competition for 2025.
