ANEM and the B92 Fund have raised 5,000 euros in aid for journalists from Gaza.

The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) and the B92 Fund have raised 5,000 euros to assist journalists in Gaza, which has been deposited into the account of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) as a sign of solidarity with media representatives who live and work under conditions of humanitarian crisis, constant hunger, and collapse of healthcare, without existential conditions for life and work, as a consequence of war and genocide.

ANEM and the B92 Fund have raised 5,000 euros in aid for journalists from Gaza.

"As the tragedy of the people of Gaza reaches biblical proportions, so too do the crimes against female and male journalists, with unprecedented mass killings, mutilations, and family destructions recorded. Journalists have become targets precisely because of the fundamental role of journalism: to inform truthfully about all events. Never before in history has there been such a high number of journalists killed in such a short period of time. The least we can do is to do everything possible to help professionally and humanely, and to demand that those responsible are punished," states Veran Matić, president of the Board of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM).

Since October 7, 2023, at least 246 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza, representing a mortality rate of over ten percent—dramatically higher than in any other profession, according to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).

The IFJ has had evidence for months that the Israeli army deliberately targeted journalists, and some of these cases are currently under investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

With support from donations worldwide, the IFJ's International Safety Fund has provided medical supplies, batteries, food, fuel, clothing, and tents for journalists in Gaza. Their needs are growing every day, and additional assistance is urgently required.

We remind that ANEM and the B92 Fund have joined the action and called on citizens and journalists in Serbia to participate in collecting aid for journalists in Gaza. To date, €5,000 has been raised.

Testimonies from journalists can be read on the ANEM website and YouTube channel as part of the series "Voices from Gaza."

All three interviews are available for download and publication in the media with proper attribution, and they can be accessed at the following links:
