REM (Regulatory Body for Electronic Media) is an independent and autonomous organization that exercises public authority in the field of electronic media in the Republic of Serbia. Its goal is to enhance the quality and diversity of media services, as well as to contribute to the preservation and development of freedom of thought and expression. REM is functionally and financially independent, and its main bodies are the Council (which consists of nine members) and the Director. The organization's headquarters is located in Belgrade, at Nikola Pašić Square No. 5.

One category in question: List of approved candidates for members of the REM Council.
Candidates for the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) have been agreed upon in all nine categories. Authorized proposers selected two candidates in each category. Among them, the Assembly will ultimately choose one candidate to join the Council.

Harmonization of candidates for the REM Council in five categories has shown that, if the procedure is followed through to the end and no candidate withdraws, at least two independent and professional candidates may be approved for the REM Council. The candidates from journalistic associations are Đorđe Vlajić and Mileva Malešić, while the associations focused on child protection are represented by Dušan Aleksić and Dubravka Valić Nedeljković. The favorites of the authorities, Stevica Smederevac and Miloš Garić, have also passed.

REM: TV Informer violated legal regulations by commenting on the case of student Nikolina Sinđelić.
The Monitoring and Analysis Department of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) published a report on October 7 based on a complaint filed by the organization CRTA in September against the television station Informer for its reporting on student Nikolina Sinđelić.

The OSCE presented different arguments regarding the candidates for the REM Council than those put forward by the authorities.
The expert analysis by the OSCE largely aligns with what representatives of civil society asserted during discussions with the ruling majority before leaving the previous meeting of the parliamentary committee, where candidates for the REM Council were discussed.

Serbia has been without the REM Council for 11 months.
Serbia has been functioning for nearly 11 months without the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM), which paralyzes oversight of electronic media and allows for uninterrupted propaganda for the authorities.
